Your Child’s First Day
It is normal for children to have separation anxiety when first starting at day care. The
Centre will be a new and unfamiliar environment to children. Parents are most welcome
to visit and stay for the orientation with the child (COVID-19 Safety Precautions are strictly adhered to). This will help to make a smooth transition into the service. This orientation will give you and your child a chance to become familiar with the environment. Below are some guides that will help to achieve a smooth transition for both child and parent into the centre:
- You need to be positive.
- Before arrival to the centre tell your child that you will read one book or do one puzzle for them in order to set a limit.
- Make sure you say goodbye.
- Settle your child at the same activity at the same time you attend.
- Follow the same routine.
